Is er al een mogelijke verklaring gekomen voor de 'mysterieuze objecten' die meevlogen? Neem aan dat ESA het inmiddels wel zou weten als hun instrumenten in stukjes door de ruimte zweven, dus dat zal 't niet zijn....

Op de ESA site is te lezen:
The images were taken a few hours after separation starting at about 23:30 CEST. Four bright objects are clearly visible, three of them - Herschel, Planck and the Sylda - form a clear triplet moving in coordination in the centre. The fourth object is presumed to be the upper stage of the Ariane 5. They were travelling at an altitude of about 100 000 km.

Herschel telescope 'opens eyes'
Europe's new billion-euro Herschel space observatory, launched in May, has achieved a critical milestone.
The telescope has opened the hatch that has been protecting its sensitive instruments from contamination.
The procedure allowed light collected by Herschel's giant 3.5m mirror to flood its supercold instrument chamber, or cryostat, for the first time.
