50.000 archiefstukken uit Nixon Administration (1969-1974)

Sinds gisteren zijn weer 50.000 documenten openbaar geworden uit de tijd dat Richard Nixon president van de USA was.

Onderstaand overzicht is gepubliceerd door de Nixon Presidential Materials. (onderdeel van het NARA).

Overzicht openbaar geworden documenten

* approximately 41,000 pages of materials from the National Security Council (NSC) Files and Henry A. Kissinger's Office Files:

o Vietnam Subject Files cover the period 1969-1973, and are of a military nature, documenting the deployment of forces, budget, research and development, and organization/command structure.

o Vietnam Country Files cover the period January 1969 through September 1973, and are diplomatic in nature, documenting the correspondence between Washington and the U.S. embassy in Saigon.

o Kissinger Agency and Congressional Files consist of security files, federal agency files, and Congressional files.

* approximately 4,000 pages of materials from the White House Central Files:

o Alphabetical Name Files consist of letters and correspondence to and from the President.

o Staff Member & Office Files from J. Fred Buzhardt's files and relate soley to the pardon of Jimmy Hoffa.

o Subject Files-Judicial and Legal (JL) pardon files contain pardons performed by the President.

* approximately 2,500 pages of documents that were previously withheld from public access:

o These files were re-reviewed for release and or declassified under the provisions of Executive Order 12958, as amended, or in accordance with 36 CFR 1275.56 (Public Access Regulations).
