Ik ga ervan uit dat National Geographic te betrouwen is... Daar zal ik het moeten mee doen.

This test will reveal the migratory history of your deep ancestry. You will be able to learn about the different regions that your deep ancestors crossed around the world and how long ago this journey took place. The genetic tests to be performed do not tell you anything about your health or about any health problems you (or your family) may have. These tests are part of a study designed solely to discover what migratory routes your deep ancestors followed. [...]
When you access the results on the website you will be invited to participate in a major global effort to collect population genetic data from more than 200,000 individuals from around the world. If you agree to participate, the genetic data from your test will be included in our database of global genetic information. Our goal is to understand the relationships among genetic, linguistic, cultural and historical data as we map human migratory history. Participation in the global database is your choice and is not necessary in order to access your individual test results. [...]
We will obtain DNA from the cheek cells collected from the swab brushes. [...] We do not know of any risk to you from taking the cheek brush sample or having your DNA sample analyzed to determine the migratory history of your deep ancestors. The benefits to you from participating in this project will be to learn more about your family origins and your relationships to other people around the world while participating in a real-time research project.
We will keep your cheek cells only for the Genographic Project. Your cells will not be used for any other purpose without your written permission. The genetic tests we wil perform are designed only to research early human origins and movements. [...] This is an anthropological study only. [...] We will discard your cells when the Genographic Project is finished. We are not a gene tissue bank, so we do not have to keep your genetic material for any particular length of time. During the project, you will have the opportunity to contact Family Tree DNA, the company licensed to perform testing for Genographic Project participants, to request follow-up testing. Unless you do so before the conclusion of the project, your cells will be discarded and will not be available for follow-up testing.
The results of our project will be presented on television, the radio, and the Internet and in newspapers, magazines, and other media. Your genetic data will be included only if you agree to have your data included as part of our collective presentation of trends and patterns. If you agree to have your data included, we will not disclose any information that reveals your identity - we do not have the ability to link your personally identifiable information with your genetic data.
Als je in een hospitaal terechtkomt en een operatie moet ondergaan of er wordt lichaamsvocht afgenomen zit je ook ergens met het risico dat je dna-profiel wordt bewaard.
